Been messing with peryton concepts for Valenth (for someone very important! c: ) .
I wasn't really planning to paint this, but I've been wanting to get back into the habit of doing paintings in openCanvas in the hopes of actually managing to find time to paint again-- it takes me twice the time to get half the success in Photoshop, sadly.

But in brighter news, this took me about two hours!

Notes to self: I've figured out what I want the final peryton's nose/beak combination to look like (not this). I need to work on laying down my colors and rendering the details more efficiently.

Grr, why can't I be as creative as you are? I sketched my own version of a peryton awhile ago and it sucks in comparison to this!

I love those freaking eyes xD I know that kind of pupil is common among deer and goats, but I still love them x3

Are Perytons the living breathing equivalent to Auto-Stags? The ears look kinda alike C=

Also, is that some kind of beak on its muzzle?
Either way, I love to see you painting again xD

They kinda are, yeah! xD

And yes, it's a beak. The peryton has an internal beak rather than teeth-- I don't think I've got it perfect here yet, but I'm in the ballpark! :)
